The cardinals are commonly found in red color. Every once in a while a yellow cardinal is spotted- why yellow? Its because of a genetic mutation. They are found more commonly in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The total population of the yellow cardinals is not too high- its estimated to be between 1000-2000.
